Crossing the finish line after 235 days, 5 hours, 44 minutes and 4 seconds at sea, South African sailor Kirsten Neuschafer won the 2022 Golden Globe Race, a solo round-the-world sailing race, non-stop, unassisted and without electronics.
She thus made history in her sport by becoming the first woman to win a solo round-the-world sailing race, across all race categories. To this day, she is still the only one to have achieved this feat.
