In Latvia’s forests, Exercise Crystal Arrow brings together NATO troops for manoeuvres combining infantry, drones and ground robots. From map-based planning to movement through the undergrowth and radio coordination, soldiers train in an environment where vegetation and terrain complicate movement and communications.

Alongside infantry units, remotely controlled vehicles are tested for reconnaissance, resupply and casualty evacuation. Demonstrations allow military personnel to examine the equipment and discuss its use. Drawing on lessons from the war in Ukraine, the exercise explores how these systems can support Allied operations and adapt to Baltic terrain.
