Après les incendies de l'été 2026, qui ont ravagé plus de 42 000 hectares en Gironde et dans les Landes, que devient le bois brûlé ?
Immersion dans le parcours de cette ressource forestière, depuis une parcelle sinistrée du Porge jusqu'à une scierie familiale de Préchac, dans le Sud-Gironde. Abattage, ramassage, stockage dans un parc à grumes, écorçage, sciage et expédition sous forme de palettes : les différentes étapes de sa transformation en bois d'œuvre sont retracées. Jusqu'à 5 millions de tonnes seraient à évacuer pour limiter leur dégradation et les risques sanitaires. Une partie de cette ressource peut également être orientée vers le bois d'industrie (papier, carton) ou le bois énergie, mobilisant d'autres acteurs de la filière.
L'enjeu est à la fois économique et environnemental : comment valoriser au mieux cette ressource et comment reconstituer la forêt ? Des professionnels de la filière bois témoignent de l'après-incendie.
