Every April 30, the French Foreign Legion commemorates the Battle of Camerone in Aubagne.

Yet beyond the ceremonial rituals, parades and iconic white kepis, other images emerge: moments of waiting, distant gazes, mechanical gestures and glimpses behind the scenes of a military memory preserved and passed down through generations.

Moving between collective ritual and more intimate fragments, this photographic series seeks not merely to document a ceremony, but to explore what it still evokes today: a sense of presence, fascination and, at times, distance.

Through the grandstands, military formations, moments of stillness and blurred movements, Camerone becomes a space where tradition, representation and a contemporary perspective on military life intersect.
