In Ukraine, life goes on despite the war, and schools are still open. In a residential neighborhood of Kyiv, a kindergarten has to adapt its daily routine to the alerts, in this city subject to daily drone attacks or bombardments.

This school has its own air-raid shelter dating from 1957. Teachers and children are used to going there at every alert, as in this month of October 2025.Three years ago, at the start of the war, they stayed confined there for up to 12 hours at a stretch.
