In Carquefou, the local election campaign is played out at pavement level – in community halls, at markets and on door-to-door canvassing rounds. For Jéromine Da Prat, this is a first.
A councillor since 2021 as part of Véronique Dubettier-Grenier’s team, she is gradually distancing herself from the ideas of the team that has been in power for over 10 years.
In 2025, Jéromine is 29 years old. She decides to devote more time to local life.
On 3 June 2025, she launches a major consultation with the residents of Carquefou: an open process to work with the community to build a solid, realistic plan that reflects their needs on issues such as education, the environment, local shops, housing and safety.
In December 2025, she leaves her job. The “Carquefou Autrement” group becomes an electoral list. The bid for the Town Hall begins.
On 11 February 2026, the programme is unveiled to the public.
As the weeks go by, the campaign becomes part of people’s daily lives and routines. It is a matter of persuading, listening and, at times, facing indifference. Whether in a campervan converted into a mobile campaign headquarters, under the harsh light of a streetlamp during a night-time poster-putting session, or whilst going door-to-door, a different reality of politics emerges: more fragile, more direct, deeply human.
From the first round to the second, right up until the results are announced, the atmosphere changes. Hope comes up against the verdict of the ballot box. What remains, then, is what cannot be measured in percentages: the lessons learnt, the bonds forged, and the mark left by a first political contest.
