TRAINED BY EXPERTS, THE MONTÉLIMAR MUNICIPAL POLICE ADOPTS TACTICAL RESCUE TECHNIQUES TO MEET THE SECURITY CHALLENGES

OF TODAY.

In a society facing ever more complex security challenges, upskilling local law enforcement has become a necessity. In Montélimar, this awareness has led to intensive training in tactical rescue, a first in the south of France. Delivered by experts from the Fédération Professionnelle Secours Tactiques Français, this initiative aims to give municipal police officers essential skills to intervene in degraded emergency situations.

This training, inspired by military techniques, was designed to address the realities on the ground faced by first responders. Applying a tourniquet under stress, extracting casualties in a hostile environment or securing an area before specialized emergency services arrive are among the skills now mastered by municipal officers. “The objective is clear: to reduce the time spent in shock so as to act quickly and effectively, whether to protect civilians or to save one’s colleagues,” explains one of the instructors.

At a time when the resources of the national police are limited, municipal officers are increasingly called upon for demanding missions. This greater role requires better preparation, not only to guarantee public safety, but also to protect their own lives in the face of increasing acts of violence. In Montélimar, this development has been accompanied by awareness training on the importance of teamwork, stress management and communication in critical situations.

This training is part of a broader trend in which society expects its law enforcement to be better prepared and able to adapt. “We hope we never have to use these skills, but if it becomes necessary, we will be ready,” sums up one trainee. A strong message that reaffirms the key role of municipal police officers in safety and rescue in France, when every second can make the difference.
