Guerre en Ukraine : en premières lignes

01 / 30 · 10 May 2023

Since the Russian invasion of February 2022, the Ukrainian army has held several front lines in the east and south of the country.

While the conflict seems to be crystallizing around the city of Bakhmut, Ukrainian soldiers are deployed along hundreds of kilometers of trenches between the Donbas and the Zaporizhzhia region.

Just a few hundred meters from Russian positions, real trench and artillery warfare is the daily life of the soldiers and of the very many civilians who have stayed, by choice or by necessity.

The latter are also the targets of collateral damage in a war that has in fact been going on since 2014.

This story was produced in March 2023 on three different front lines, as close as possible to the fighting, both with the forces of the regular army and with volunteers from Ukrainian far-right brigades.
