Posad-Pokrovs’ke holds strong symbolic value for the Ukrainian resistance against the Russian invasion. Strategically positioned to defend the city of Mykolaiv, located about thirty kilometers to the west, the village still bears the scars of the heavy fighting that took place there. Captured by Russian forces in March 2022, it was liberated in November of the same year, at the cost of near-total destruction.

Some of its inhabitants have resettled, while “We Build Ukraine”—a private think tank founded by former ministers—is overseeing the reconstruction. The first signs announcing the rebuilding project were put up in Posad-Pokrovs’ke two years ago, but tangible results have yet to materialize.
