The appeal trial in the Mazan rape case, held from October 6 to 9, 2025 before the Gard Assize Court in Nîmes, did not play out solely inside the courtroom. It also unfolded outside, in the open, under the spotlight of extensive media coverage.

More than 100 international journalists from 75 media outlets were accredited to cover this extraordinary trial. A large security operation was deployed around the courthouse to ensure calm proceedings and protect the civil parties.

On the forecourt, feminist activists occupied the public space, carrying a strong political message, a reminder that this trial went beyond purely judicial issues. Present every day, Gisèle Pélicot, who has become an emblematic figure in the fight against sexual violence, stood firm, supported by determined and silent collectives.
